Introduction to course
The M.Sc. Nursing in Psychiatric Nursing at Dr. Subhash University is a two-year postgraduate program focused on preparing nursing professionals to address the complex mental health needs of individuals, families, and communities. This program offers specialized training in psychiatric assessment, therapeutic communication, crisis intervention, and the management of various mental health disorders. With expert guidance, clinical exposure, and a multidisciplinary approach, students gain the knowledge and skills to provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care across diverse healthcare settings.
Program objective
To develop a deep understanding of mental health concepts, psychiatric disorders, and therapeutic interventions.
To equip students with clinical skills for psychiatric assessment, psychotherapy, and crisis management.
To prepare students to work in a variety of settings including psychiatric hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and community mental health clinics.
To foster leadership, research, and advocacy in the field of mental health nursing.
To promote ethical, legal, and culturally sensitive practices in psychiatric care.
Program outcome
Graduates of the M.Sc. Nursing (Psychiatric Nursing) program will be able to:
Provide advanced nursing care for individuals with mental health conditions across the lifespan.
Utilize therapeutic communication and counseling techniques to support patients and families.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
B.Sc Nursing OR Post Basic B.Sc Nursing from an INC-recognised institute Minimum 55% aggregate marks in B.Sc / P.B.B.Sc Nursing Nursing Registration (Mandatory)
Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) & Registered Midwife (RM) Valid registration with State Nursing Council
Work Experience (Important)
Minimum 1 year work experience after:
- B.Sc Nursing OR
- Post Basic B.Sc Nursing
