Introduction to course
Undergraduate courses are offered at first- and second-year students’ general streams with only Botany as a special subject at the third-year level. There is one laboratory in the department. The laboratory is well equipped with modern instruments purchased out of grants provided by management. Her department is enriched with learning resources such as charts, museum specimens, slides, models, herbarium, and modern facilities like computers, the internet, and LCD which help the students in independent learning.
The botanical excursion is organized in view to study the wild plant diversity, and forest ecosystem and to inculcate the research knowledge to the students by visiting Agriculture University.

To engage in education, research, innovation, and promotion of entrepreneurship in biological sciences for the benefit of society, its mission is to apply conventional as well as non-conventional tools to understand plant processes, and the development of human resources with hands-on experience in the frontier areas of Plant Sciences.
To offer wide and relevant education to the students with a view of shaping their scientific temperament and environmental awareness and to uplift the students capable of facing challenges in life efficiently and carve their own future. To introduce students to modern ideas and thoughts for sustaining in the global world

Course outcome
- Botany is a branch of biology that deals with the study of plants and plant-like organisms like algae, fungi, etc. It includes the scientific study of Plant Physiology, Structure, Classification, Genetics, Distribution, Economic Importance, and Ecology. The work of a Botanist includes fieldwork for studying plants in their natural habitat, as well as working in the laboratories for research. As a career field, Botany is highly rewarding for individuals who are especially interested in the subject and wish to explore the plant kingdom to the deepest possible extent
- Botany offers many interesting and worthwhile career opportunities. The major employers of plant biologists are educational institutions, national and state agencies, and various industrial sectors. A Masters in Botany can get absorbed in a teaching position in schools, colleges, universities, and various other NGOs. Students can also opt for a career as a researcher/scientist in highly reputed research institutes in India as well as abroad. Students are eligible to apply for various vacancies both at State Forest Services/Indian Forest Services. A botanist can also start his/her own career as a farming specialist in agriculture estates, ornamental horticulture; plant nurseries, vineyards, and fruit orchards. With additional training and experience, a botanist can work in plant-related industries such as pharmaceutical companies, seed companies, biotechnology firms, biological supply houses, scientific publishers, and botanical illustrators.
Admission procedure
Eligibility:
- The student who has qualified HSC or equivalent examination in Science stream from recognized board or body is eligible for admission in B.Sc. programme.

Admission Process:
- A candidate has to fill an online application form with all the necessary details in the due time declared by the university.
- After the last date of application, the University shall publish the merit lists of selected candidates. The candidate has to pay the necessary fees within prescribed time duration to confirm his/her seat.
- The merit for admission will be based on total obtained marks including that of practical marks in HSC or equivalent examination.
- If two or more candidates have acquired equal marks in HSC or equivalent examination, then marks of SSC examination will be considered.
- The candidate who has submitted necessary documents of authorized signatory in light of reservation is eligible to avail the benefit of reservation policies.
- The candidate who has qualified HSC or equivalent examination from the board other than GSHEB, has to obtain a provisional eligibility certificate and has to submit a copy of the same along with his/her application.

- SSC Mark sheet
- HSC Mark sheet
- Leaving Certificate
- Two passport size photographs
- Caste Certificate (if applicable)
- Non-creamy layer certificate (if applicable)
- EWS certificate (if applicable)
- Certificate for PH category (if applicable)
- Provisional Eligibility Certificate (if applicable)
- Other necessary documents suggested by the admission committee.
- In case of any query, the decision of the admission committee will be considered as the final.
